Traditions

We welcome the beginning of the school year with a Back-to-School Picnic for MICH families and staff.

In September the entire school gathers on the Toddler Playground to celebrate Peace Day.

Every Fall Upper Elementary students go on a three day class trip to Echo Hill Outdoor School. The purpose of this trip is to help students learn more about the environment and themselves.

In October, MICH celebrates Halloween with Ghosts of the Past. Elementary students pick a historical figure to research and report on to the entire school. The PTO holds a "spooktacular" event off campus when all students can wear their costumes.

In December, Mrs. Gawell's Primary Class celebrates St. Lucia Day. This Scandinavian holiday celebrates the bringing of light during the cold winter months.

December is also the time for the Secret Shop. Coordinated by the PTO, this is a fun-filled afternoon where the children can shop in "secret" for holiday gifts for their families.

Every year Primary and Elementary students present a Musical Performance at Maryland Hall.

May Day/Earth Day is celebrated with international songs and dances.

In spring, we welcome Grandparents – Special Friends to MICH.

The end of the school year brings
              Field Day for Elementary students
              PTO Ice Cream Social
Graduation of our 6th grade students
